Compress a PDF online, free
Compress a PDF two ways: 'Smaller file' re-encodes pages as images (real reduction for scans and image-heavy PDFs, but text becomes non-selectable), or 'Keep text' does a lossless re-save. There is no guaranteed reduction — already-optimized PDFs may not shrink.
Files are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to a server. No account, no watermark, no tracking.
How to use it
- Open the Compress tool and choose a PDF (up to 250 MB).
- Pick 'Smaller file' (with a quality level) or 'Keep text (lossless)'.
- Click Compress, then download the result.
Good to know
- No guaranteed reduction — already-optimized PDFs may not shrink.
- 'Smaller file' re-encodes pages as images, so text is no longer selectable.
- 'Keep text' preserves text but may barely shrink image-heavy PDFs.
